Re: TDIH: 81 reasons I love this band |
Bombs and missiles kill people, cars kill people, cigarettes kill people, prescription meds kill people, medical malpractice kills people, Nicholas Cage movies kill people, and people kill people.
Where do we draw the line here? I am not in any way belittling the situation over there. Like Rob says, my son has served two tours in a rather nasty place where people were trying to kill him on a regular basis. A little one liner referencing a missile is hardly the same as saying "I like dead people. I really like dead Arabs".
Oh and as for the recognition as "The worst thread ever", thank you, I do what I can.

Friends don't let friends watch Nicolas Cage movies.
Except "Red Rock West". That's an underrated gem.

Re: TDIH: 81 reasons I love this band |
Hey, Raising Arizona is a masterpiece! But it's a good point...I can't ever recall ever liking any other Nick Cage movies. Yet I still don't understand why that Con-Air never won any academy awards...is it just me, or with that haircut and wifebeater, anyone else think that's where Scott Stapp got his image from?
Oh no, I said "wifebeater!" Naturally that means I support and encourage husbands beating their wives.
People need to lighten up around here...that said, this is coming from a guy who used to have the Unabomber sketch as my Facebook profile picture.
Yeah, death is bad and all that... Are we so sensitive that eventually we'll just start calling the band "The Grateful" because we don't want any "bad vibes" being caught because of the word "dead?" And I for one cannot stand the way this band glorifies violence and murder with such songs as Me and My Uncle and El Paso. And the direct threat on a police officer in "Candyman?" We really should boycott this band, how can we respect any group with such morals?

What about the David Lynch film with him, Laura Dern, and Willem Dafoe? "Wild at Heart"?

Peggy Sue Got Married, good time travel theme, and I think it had a pretty good old fashioned rock and roll soundtrack. But yeah, Cage gets a bad rap for some of his overacting ability. He has made some good films in his days.

Most definitely the best Nic Cage film ever, but that would have everything to do with Director David Lynch.

What about "leaving LV"? I always thought that was his best.

Yeah, LLV is very good.
When he's good, he's really good;
but when he's bad, he is phenomally bad.

Re: TDIH: 81 reasons I love this band |
I submit "con-air" as exhibit 1 on your behalf (think someone already did, but deserves another mention). That one has been on the "movie re-run" channel over the past five yrs more than almost any movie (painfully, I know this)...yikes.
I will admit, having been forced (yes, there was a gun to my head) to watch it a few times, there are a couple of humorous lines via "supporting" cast members (very loosely used), but they're not worth the wait.
